Friend vs. Friend
Jester slides his key card into the door of his third story room at the Camden Court Hotel in Dublin, Ireland. He flips on the lights and carefully scans the inside of what will serve as his home for the next several days. Not to shabby, Jester thinks to himself. The WWX certainly takes care of it's stars. Jester takes his bag off his shoulder and drops it on the floor. He checks inside the bathroom and closet to insure that he's alone. An old habit that he knows is no longer necessary but is basically instinctive. He walks over to the large exterior window and pulls back the curtain. The lights from the city below give off an inviting glow and he can't help but think of how different his last visit to Ireland was. For one thing, he didn't have to parachute in under the cover of night this time. Jester shakes his head as if to expel those thoughts from his mind. After all, that was a different time and a different life. A knock on the door interrupts his concentration. Jester opens the door and is greeted by a WWX cameraman. Jester jokingly looks at his wrist, since he never wears a watch. Jester - “I wasn't expecting you until later.” Cameraman - “I'm sorry. I can come back later if this is a bad time.” Jester- “No, it's fine. I wouldn't want you to have to make another trip back here. Come on in.” Cameraman - “I come bearing gifts.” The cameraman offers Jester a coffee in a to go cup, which he gladly excepts. Cameraman - “My names Peter. You need any cream or sugar?” Jester offers Peter his hand. Jester- “Nice to meet you Peter and black is fine, thanks. Why don't you go set up over there while I get ready.” Jester grabs his bag and heads into the bathroom. He emerges minutes later wearing dark grey jeans and an old school black “Violent Tendencies” t-shirt. Peter signals that they are ready to begin and Jester takes a seat in front of the large glass window with the lights of Dublin as his backdrop. Jester - “As you all can see I have arrived in the beautiful and historic city of Dublin. There have been many epic battles fought in and around this great city. In a matter of days there will be yet another one held at The 3Arena. Thirteen thousand fans will gather to see the best the WWX has to offer battling for the right to face the Undisputed WWX World Heavyweight Champion at House of Pain. For those of you that may have missed my last promo I explained that I would discuss one of my four opponents from the International ring in each promo. I disposed of Bob in my first one so tonight's promo is dedicated to Fill.” Jester pauses to take a sip of his coffee before continuing. Jester - “Fill, when we first met you were just this kid with unlimited potential and absolutely no confidence. You questioned whether you even belonged in the WWX and you were more stressed out than any person I'd ever known. So, I did something that was completely against my character, I took you under my wing. And it turned out that all you needed was someone to believe in you. The more you won, the more your confidence grew. We even formed our own tag team, Violent Tendencies.” Jester points to the bold print name on his t-shirt. Jester - “We almost immediately became WWX Tag Team Champions. In fact, we have never been defeated as a tag team. Then I was suddenly called away on crucial business and I have to admit, I was worried about how you would handle being on your own again. But you flourished in my absence. You made other friends, won multiple titles, and have become a force to be reckoned with in the WWX. I couldn't possibly be more proud of you Fill.” Jester stands from his chair and turns to gaze out the window for a moment before turning back to the camera. Jester - “Now here's something that you probably don't know Fill. You saved me too. You all know I'm not allowed to talk about my past but for the better part of my life I worked alone. A large part of my training was having the idea drilled into my head that I could trust no one. It was a lonely, solitary life that left me in some dark places but it made me the best at what I did. You, Fill, were the first person I let in since I was a child. I have no idea what it was about you that made me open up but I'm grateful that you did. You have been the most loyal and trustworthy friend that any person could hope for.” Jester sits back down and finishes off his coffee. After taking a moment to collect his thoughts, he continues. Jester - “And now the part that must be said. Fill, you and I are friends. It would actually probably be more accurate to call us brothers. But above all else, we are competitors. Each of us have our own goals headed into World Series. I don't know what yours are, but my goal is to win it all. We've never faced off in the ring before but we both knew it was bound to happen one day. I won't go out of my way to attack you Fill, but if it comes down to the two of us in order to decide who moves on to that final ring, then I will show you no mercy. Nor do I expect any from you. We both have to much respect for each other to do anything less. So let the best man win. And regardless of the outcome we'll share a beer and a good laugh when it's all said and done.” The camera fades to black.
