Prices Paid, Lessons Learned
Our scene opens inside a hotel room early Saturday morning, several hours after the conclusion of Fury. The camera focuses in on the blood stained ring attire of Jester balled up in a corner of the room. The camera then pans to its left to find Jester, dressed simply in a plain white t-shirt and black sweat pants with the left side of his forehead heavily bandaged, sitting in front of a vanity desk and staring into the mirror. He doesn’t even bother to look at camera as he begins to speak in a cold voice.

Jester - “Minor bruising and inflammation around the lower vertebrae, a mild concussion, and 45 stitches to close the gap on my forehead. That’s the damage, in case anyone was wondering.”

Jester's face is emotionless, his breathing calm and steady.

Jester - “You were right Rex. I wasn’t prepared enough. I allowed personal issues to divide my attention and I lost my focus. I didn’t take this match seriously enough and I paid a steep price. That was a mistake.”

Jester's eyes dart to the reflection of the camera in the mirror.

Jester - “And I don’t make the same mistake twice.”

Jester finally turns to face the camera. You can now clearly see the dark purple bruising around his left eye and swelling running down his cheek. His expression still unchanged.

Jester - “So, thank you Rex. Thank you for reminding me what it takes to be successful in the WWX. For showing me what happens when you only put ninety percent effort into a match. For helping me to grow and become better. To borrow your own words, to evolve. I now know what I have to do.... what I have to be, in order to reach the top. You see, these wounds will fade quickly but the lesson will remain forever. So, for all of that, I will say it one last time.... thank you Rex.”

Jester begins to turn away from the camera before pausing and cranking his head back towards it.

Jester - “Of course, that doesn’t mean that you’re off the hook. What you did cannot go without consequence. I’m not a religious man but I do believe in the old adage of an eye for an eye. It may be wise for you to watch your back from now on.”

With that, Jester returns to staring into the mirror.

Cut to black.
