The Dance Begins
The camera opens inside the backstage area of the San Diego arena. We can see WWX reporter Paige Taylor talking about something with James Bourne. The camera moves in closer to pick up the conversation. Bourne - “So, how's things going Paige? You've gotten all the interviews you need for tonight's Fury?” Paige - “To be completely honest, no! It's been a slow week. A lot of the wrestlers on the card have been quite and the ones that are talking are all doing it somewhere on location. In fact, the only interview I've done was with Rayne. Don't get me wrong, he did a great interview and gave me some exclusive insight into exactly where his head is at but I need more than one interview with one superstar.” Bourne - “Well, have you reached out to anybody about setting up a time to talk to them?” Paige - “I've left messages for Tom Black, Dr Death, Darkness, Jake Devine, McAlister and Lipton, anyone from Blade Club; basically everyone who hasn't spoke out about their upcoming matches yet and I haven't heard back from any of them.” Bourne - “I won't stand for this! It's every WWX superstar’s contractual obligation to do interviews and promote their upcoming matches. If this continues I will personally see to it that these people suffer harsh penalties for their failure to do so!” As Bourne is finishing up his tirade he notices someone walking in the distance. He interrupts his train of thought to call out to the figure. Bourne - “Hey, Jester! Do you have a minute?” Jester, dressed in a grey When Worlds Collide t-shirt, dark grey jeans and an old-school Atlanta Falcons hat, stops and turns toward the sound of the male voice. He recognizes the man waving him over as James Bourne but he is momentarily frozen by the beauty of the unknown women standing beside Bourne. She has fiery red curly hair that runs down her back to just below her shoulder blades. She is wearing a white button-up blouse with the WWX emblem embroidered in red on the upper left chest and a black skirt that ends just above her knees, highlighting her slim yet toned figure. Red high heel shoes give her the appearance of being taller than her actual 5’7” height and her perfectly smooth skin looks as though it might melt if touched. Jester quickly regains his composure and heads over to where they are standing, shaking Bourne’s hand as he arrives. Jester - “How are you doing Mr. Bourne?” Bourne - “Please, call me James. Have you met Ms. Taylor yet?” Jester stares deep into her emerald green eyes as he extends his hand. Paige mimics the gesture, her full red lips curling on the edges into a warm and friendly smile. Jester - “I don't believe I've had the pleasure. My name's Jester and I'm one of the wrestlers here in WWX.” Paige - “Paige Taylor, but you can call me Paige. I've just recently been hired by WWX to be a backstage reporter and interviewer. And I'm very familiar with your work Jester. Your series of matches against Sugarman Shazam are classics!” Bourne - “Yes, we are all very excited to have you back in the WWX. Paige and I were just discussing how so few of the wrestlers on this Fury card have done any kind of promotion for their matches. It's been rather upsetting to me. Of course, I'm not talking about you. You've done your part to fire up the fans for your match. I'm sorry your opponent hasn't held up his end of the bargain.” Paige - “Yes, so many of the wrestlers have been silent to the point where the only interview I've been able to get for this Fury, so far, was with your friend Rayne.” Jester - “Rayne's a good guy and you did a great job getting him to open up and talk about that beating he took and what he had done to help set up the return of WWC.” Paige - “Thanks Jester, that's very nice of you to say.” Jester flashes a shy smile towards Paige. He is usually a man that's full of confidence and comfortable in almost any situation. Yet here he stands with his palms sweaty and his heart fluttering. He wonders if the other two can tell that he's trying to hide this fact. It didn't help that Paige smelled like a garden full of sweet Gardenias. Bourne - “You know Jester, maybe you could help Paige out if you have a few minutes to spare. She really needs another interview for this week's Fury. What do you say? Can you lend a hand to a fellow WWX employee?” Jester - “I'd be happy to!” He said just a little to enthusiastically. Jester was both excited and nervous to get the chance to spend more time with Paige. Paige - “That's great! I really appreciate you helping me out. I owe you one.” Jester - “I'm going to hold you to that!” Jester said playfully, with a smile. Paige - “If you wouldn't mind following me to the interview staging area we have set up it shouldn't take more than a few minutes to get everything ready.” Jester - “No problem, just lead the way.” As Paige and Jester start down the hall the camera cuts to black. —————————————————————————————————---------------------------------------------------------------- The camera comes back on showing Paige and Jester standing in front of a black backdrop with a large red WWX logo on it. Paige - “Hello to all the WWX fans tuning in. I'm Paige Taylor and today I'm joined by our special guest, Jester. Thank you for being here today.” Jester - “I'm happy to be here Paige. I'm a big fan of your work.” Paige - “Thank you for the kind words Jester. Later tonight you have your first match since returning to the WWX against Dr. Death. Are you excited to get back into the ring again?” Jester - “Oh, without a doubt Paige. That moment can't get here soon enough. I think the thing I've missed the most about competing is the cheers from the crowd. Tonight, when my music hits and I walk out on that entrance to the screaming of all those fans, well Paige, that's a feeling that just can't be duplicated. There's no way to describe it that does it justice. It's truly something that must be experienced.” Paige - “That would be something amazing to be able to do. I can only imagine the adrenaline rush you must get.” Jester - “I tell you what Paige, I can't give you the actual experience but I can give you the next best thing. Tonight when I come out for my match, you can stand right behind the entrance and watch it through the curtain as my guest.” Paige - “That would be incredible! I don't know how to thank you!” Jester - “The smile on your face is all the thanks I need.” Paige - “That's extremely kind of you but let's get back to your match tonight. Your opponent, Dr. Death, has been conspicuously silent since your match was announced. Do you have anything you'd like to say to him?” Jester - “I really don't have anything to say to him that I haven't already said. I'm not a person that likes to repeat myself. I had hoped that Doc would find the nerve to refute some of the claims I made about him, but he hasn't. I take his silence as confirmation that everything I've said about him his correct. But I guess I shouldn't have expected anything more from a man whose name is an oxymoron. If you don't understand what I mean by that Doc, ask someone to explain it to you.” Paige - “Well, that's all the time we have. I'd like to thank you Jester for sharing your time with us today and wish you the best of luck in your match tonight.” Jester - “Thank you Paige, and I look forward to doing many more interviews with you in the future.” Paige - “Until next time, I'm Paige Taylor with WWX news.” We can hear the director tell Paige that they are clear through hear ear piece. Paige - “Were you serious about letting me stand backstage and watch your entrance?” Jester - “Absolutely! Just meet me at my locker room a few minutes before my match and we'll walk up to the entrance together.” Paige - “Okay, I'll be there! Well, I need to go see if I can find anyone else to interview before the show but I'll see you tonight.” The two say their goodbyes as the camera fades to black.
